Burger King Scholars Program

Created in memory of BURGER KING co-founder James W. McLamore, the BURGER KING Scholars program has awarded more than 17,000 scholarships—$17.6 million—to high school students, BURGER KING® employees and their children across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Last spring, thanks to the support of the BK® family and the McLamore Family Foundation, the Foundation awarded more than 2000 scholarships, totaling more than $2.2 million, nearly doubling the number of scholarships granted in 2011.
Scholarship grants range from $1,000 to $50,000, and are intended to help students offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. Recipients are selected based on their grade point average, work experience, extracurricular activities and/or community service.
Scholarships are funded directly by the BURGER KING McLAMORESM Foundation and are made possible thanks to our generous donors, including BK® employees, franchisees, vendors and guests. Our largest annual fundraiser is the Fall Fundraiser in-restaurant promotion. Every dollar raised through this campaign is used to fund scholarships. Each year we inch closer to our goal of granting one $1,000 scholarship for every BK® restaurant in North America.

The application period for the 2014 school year begins on Nov. 15, 2013 and ends on Jan. 10, 2014. Click here to view the scholarship eligibility requirements and apply now.

Ithaca College Park Scholar Awards

The Awards

The Park Scholar Program offers much more than a scholarship; it creates a dynamic learning community that develops future communications leaders who engage critically, act globally, and perform ethically. Through a mixture of academic and service programming, scholars are challenged to take action and give back to their communities, and to use the power of mass communication to make a positive impact on the world.
At least 10 merit-based scholarships are awarded to outstanding high school seniors each year. In addition, at least four merit-based scholarships are awarded to Park School rising juniors each spring.
Upon entering the Park Scholar Program, Park scholars are expected to
  • maintain a 3.5 GPA and full-time enrollment in the Park School
  • engage in community service
  • participate in Park scholar activities
  • be a model citizen and maintain good judicial standing.

In addition, first-year scholars are expected to live with and participate in the H.O.M.E. program, a residential learning community that explores multicultural issues.
Park Scholar Awards cover the entire cost of attendance (tuition, room, and board) at Ithaca College and include stipends for living expenses, books, and a one-time computer purchase of $2,500. Four-year awards are renewable for up to three years (for a total of eight semesters), while rising junior awards are renewable for a total of four semesters.

Texas A&M

Presidential Endowed Scholarship
Since 1968, the merit-based President's Endowed Scholarship program has been inspiring high-achieving high school seniors to make Texas A&M University their school of choice.
Giving a President's Endowed Scholarship
A PES can be established by an individual or group with a one-time gift of $100,000 or with a series of installments over a period of up to five years. The endowment established by the gift funds a stipend for one student for four years, plus a bonus for a study abroad experience. Since we manage the endowment to pay for the current student scholarship while simultaneously providing for the long-term growth of the principal, you'll be supporting students in perpetuity.
President's Endowed Scholarships can be named in memory or honor of a person, class or organization of your choice. PES gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible and may be made in the form of cash, securities, real estate or other real property. Many employers also offer matching gift programs that could support your gift of a PES.

Receiving a President's Endowed Scholarship
Scholarships are merit-based and are awarded without regard to financial need. Students competing for the scholarships must take the writing component of the SAT and/or ACT and achieve:
  • a combined SAT math and SAT critical reading score of at least 1300 with a test score of at least 600 in each of these components
  • OR a composite ACT score of at least 30 with a test score of at least 27 in ACT math and ACT English
President’s Endowed Scholarships are awarded by Texas A&M University’s Academic Scholarship Selection Committee in March to outstanding high school seniors.
Review the scholarship application requirements from Texas A&M Scholarships and Financial Aid.
